The Saudi Arabia 500 Riyal Banknote was issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency in 1983 with the correct accent over the Arabic word for Monetary at the top panel of the obverse. Featured on the obverse of the brown banknote are the Ka'aba in the courtyard of the Holy Mosque in Mecca and a portrait of King Abdul Aziz. The reverse depicts the Holy Mosque in Mecca and the coat of arms of Saudi Arabia represented with two crossed swords and a palm tree. The banknote contains a solid security thread and a watermark that reveals King Abdul Aziz.
